Hi, I’m Cassie, and I’m on a unique journey with my German Shepherd puppy, Blake. I’ve been losing my hearing since I was 12 years old, and over the years, the sounds I can hear have dwindled, especially the high-frequency ones. About 10 years ago, I began relying on hearing aids to navigate the world around me. Today, I wear top-of-the-line hearing aids, which help, but they don’t bring back every sound. There are still things I miss—like smoke alarms, timers, tea kettles, and certain consonants in conversations. And I can’t wear my hearing aids while I sleep, making those nighttime sounds even harder to catch.

That’s where Blake comes in. Blake isn’t just any puppy; she’s training to become my hearing dog. Together, we’re embarking on a journey to learn, grow, and create a partnership that will help me stay connected to the world of sound I’ve been gradually losing. This blog, “I’m All Ears,” is a space where I share our experiences—the highs, the challenges, and everything in between.
