About

Hi, I’m Cassie, and I’m on a unique journey with my German Shepherd puppy, Blake. I’ve been losing my hearing since I was 12 years old, and over the years, the sounds I can hear have dwindled, especially the high-frequency ones. About 10 years ago, I began relying on hearing aids to navigate the world around me. Today, I wear top-of-the-line hearing aids, which help, but they don’t bring back every sound. There are still things I miss—like smoke alarms, timers, tea kettles, and certain consonants in conversations. And I can’t wear my hearing aids while I sleep, making those nighttime sounds even harder to catch.

That’s where Blake comes in. Blake isn’t just any puppy; she’s training to become my hearing dog. Together, we’re embarking on a journey to learn, grow, and create a partnership that will help me stay connected to the world of sound I’ve been gradually losing. This blog, “I’m All Ears,” is a space where I share our experiences—the highs, the challenges, and everything in between. Whether you’re curious about service dog training, navigating life with hearing loss, or just want to follow along on our adventure, I’m glad you’re here. Join us as we explore what it means to be a team, one sound at a time.
