Guess what, packmates? This week was so much fun, and I have some big news: I had zero accidents in the house! Yup, you read that right—no messes at all! Well, okay, there was that one time on the porch… but it wasn’t really my fault! We went outside, but I guess I just needed a bit more time to finish my business. No worries, though. Captain and I are getting the hang of this potty thing!
Oh, and I went to another birthday party! This one was so much fun because guess what I discovered? Mud! It was squishy and cool, and I just couldn’t resist. I had my service dog in training vest on, which usually means I’m on my best behavior and learning to stay calm in public. Captain likes me to wear it so I learn to be neutral around people—when I wear it, I notice people don’t come over to pet me as much. That’s important because when I see people, I shouldn’t always think it’s playtime or petting time!
But let me tell you, once I saw that mud, I just couldn’t help myself. I rolled in it, jumped in it, splashed all around—it was glorious! In hindsight, Captain said she should’ve taken my vest off before I dove into all that fun. Not just because it got super muddy (oops!), but because I’m not supposed to think I can do whatever I want when I’m wearing it. Lesson learned for both of us, I guess!
After my big mud adventure, I had to have a bath. You all know how I feel about baths… I mean, ugh! But this time, Captain made it so much better. She filled the tub with just a few inches of water and turned the faucet off, so it wasn’t all noisy and scary. Plus, there were so many treats and sweet words! I stayed calm the whole time and let Captain wash all the mud off. Honestly, it was the best bath I’ve had so far. I think we’re getting the hang of this too!
Captain’s been doing a lot of research on how to train me best, and she’s written all about it in her Captain’s Log. If you’re curious about the training methods she’s using to help me grow into a great service dog, you should definitely check it out!
Until next time, packmates! Paws and cuddles, Blake 🐾
